Promise Hub Game Changers preparing to pitch their business ideas

Promise Hub Game Changers preparing to pitch their business ideas

An important day for our Game Changers, our Local Impact Team members and indeed all members of the Promise Hub family: on November 20th the first cohort of Game Changers graduated our core curriculum.

The 27 Game Changers have taken their first steps in turning their passion into purpose and we could not be happier, we are extremely proud of their drive and commitment. Our Game Changers are some of the most promising and ambitious aspiring entrepreneurs in the community, who joined Promise Hub in order to effectuate their own financial success. An inspirational and supportive group, each and every Game Changer has a story to tell. The gender-balanced members have worked hard, formed bonds and are eager to jumpstart their businesses.

It was an incredibly busy, extraordinarily fun and deeply emotional day, filled with a range of activities

In the early part of the day the Game Changers had the chance to present their various products to friends, colleagues and guests. Many are upcycled, stylish items meant for decorating homes and bringing color to one’s wardrobe. Products like these will be the fuel for financial independence and increased average income within the community, the very reason Promise Hub started on this journey. They will all soon be available on the Promise Hub Collective marketplace.

What followed was a ceremony at the Uhuru Amphitheater where Game Changers could pitch their respective projects and receive seed funding for their ideas. Deborah Kasavubu (Promise Hub), Raphael Muvunga (Opportunigee) and Jimmy Bourgeois Kajangu (Opportunigee) made up the judging panel that would gather insight and select the most promising projects of this event.

From the many ambitious ideas that the Game Changers presented, there was one that stood out; the Graduation Pitch event was won by Kagame Fiston, an immensely talented entrepreneur who aims to lead a team of 14 to produce 2000 upcycled tire belts per month. We all look forward to his success.

The 3-hour long Project Pitch event was followed by the awarding of graduation certificates. It’s important to note that the Game Changers have successfully completed not only the Promise Hub entrepreneurial empowerment curriculum but also Funzi’s Founder 101 online course on business. It was a beautiful moment that fully reflected the ambition and drive each and every Game Changer has demonstrated since day one.

…and now the journey continues

This has been an amazing journey thus far, but we’ve only just begun, we’re all gearing up to launch our Digital Wallet and online marketplace so these wonderful human beings can compete internationally sell these products anywhere in the world.

We would like to thank all those who have believed in and supported Promise Hub, from our wonderful partners to our global and local teams and most importantly: our Game Changers, the courageous people who dare to want more than what is immediately available and work everyday to lift themselves and their communities in order to achieve it.
